Award-winning house DJ Tom Crane is on his way to establishing himself as an influential figure in dance music after 16 years of DJing. The 29 year-old, known as ‘Tommy Two Shoes’ by those around him for his sartorial choices has had music in his blood since he can remember. Voted Best DJ in London in 2008, it’s a title he rightly deserves as he continues to hit the circuit with his infectious mix of house, indie and electro.
Whipping up the beautiful crowd with classics such as Groove Armada’s Superstylin’ and Masters at Work’s Diamond Life caused the ears of Kanye West to prick up – who subsequently requested Crane play at his UK party. Since then, Crane has spun at exclusive private parties and glamorous events for the likes of Jade Jagger, Chanel and Donatella Versace, amongst others. More recently he smashed it across two days at the V Festival. Citing Desmond Dekker’s Fumanchew as his all-time favourite track.
Tom will never find himself far from the work of his peers Norman Jay, Tony Humphries and Frankie Knuckles, and time after time brings the house down by ending his sets with the sublime Les Fleurs by 4Hero. When he’s not behind the decks, Crane’s love for funk and soul will see him chilling to the likes of Nina Simone on Sunday mornings. Currently also in the studio producing his first album, he expects to release his own take on soulful house in 2010.
