Qmusic "track of the day" review for words are poison, 12/02/2008

" Dead Pixels are like some sort of grand project to foster harmony between nations. There are only five of them, but between them they draw on backgrounds in Egypt, France, Denmark and the UK. The story goes that Danish singer Lone Blomhoj - who has a touch of Bowwowow's Annabella Luwin and a smidgen of Toni Halliday about her raw but soulful technique - was spotted by singing while working in a clothes shop and persuaded to sing on a few demo tracks. Rakes drummer Lasse Petersen also pops up to make a guest appearance on their recordings, adding his thunderous thud to the electronic beats. So You Say is the B-side to next single Words Are Poison and was given a little extra sparkle by former Sneaker Pimp Liam Howe. It owes much to the post-punk clicking guitars of XTC, The Skids and even The Beat; Lone sounds frantic and feisty as she tires of excuses in a failing relationship over whipping synth drums not heard since the first wave of industrial electro-pop of the early 80s."
